I had an unplanned emergency C-Section in July 2022. I had no idea where to turn after this major surgery. I was left to navigate my own recovery and being a new mom all at once. These three resources helped me stitch my life back together.
My traumatic birth experience included two failed vacuum attempts, an emergency C-section, and a four-day NICU stay for my little one. When the dust started to settle I was hit hard with the reality that a Caesarean was the one thing that I did not prepare for during my pregnancy. I had no idea where to start my journey of learning about my new reality. My thoughts were racing and I was left with googling every symptom because my medical team didn't seem to have any helpful answers.
Fast forward to July 2023. In the past year have found many incredible resources on social media, particularly Instagram, that have shown me a clear path for taking my recovery into my own hands. My hope is that by sharing a few of these resources, I can point you in a direction that empowers you to do the same!
One of my nurses encouraged me to check out this account, and I immediately wished I would've found it when I was pregnant. This account covers so many helpful topics related to pregnancy, labor, and recovery. Their advice for recovering from a C-section did exactly what the brand says: it empowered me.
I first found Nicole's C-section Recovery Method program via Instagram where she shares many helpful pieces of advice for healing after a C-section, but the real magic for recovery can be found by participating in her recovery course. I took this course at 5 months postpartum and I wished I had started sooner! It made a world of difference for my physical and mental recovery. I learned about scar massage, pelvic health, acceptance, and so much more.
This account sheds so much light on the topic of birth trauma and helped me realize that I was far from alone in this experience. The sense of community that comes from awareness and sharing stories is incredibly empowering.
